MEWP spotters

• It is site policy that all MEWP’s must have a

designated Spotter.

• A spotter works with the MEWP operator when
moving the MEWP (horizontal or vertical).

• The spotter acts as eyes for the MEWP operators

blind spots when operating a MEWP.
3. Working at Height
• The spotter must also be MEWP trained, so in
the event of an emergency the MEWP can be

lowered from the ground controls. He needs to
ensure he always has access to these ground

controls.

• The spotter must always be in seeing and calling
distance of the MEWP operator, when MEWP is

stationary.

• All spotters must wear an orange spotters vest.

• Operator must engage with Spotter before
moving the machine.
