"And when God said to the angels: I have placed
a caliph on the earth. The angel said: Why have You
placed on earth a person who will make a disaster there
and shed blood, while we exalt the praise of You and
sanctify (glorify) You. God said: Verily I know what you
do not know.(Qur'an 2:30)
Here it is explained explicitly that humans were created
as caliphs on earth. What is meant by caliph here is a function
assigned to humans to be a liaison, connector or leader (related
to responsibility). He bears a mandate or message that must be
conveyed to his fellow human beings with perfect
responsibility. The mandate and responsibility assigned to
humans is the delivery of values or teachings of monotheism
(Islamic teachings). Because the mandate or task given by God
is so heavy, only humans among God's creation are willing to
bear that responsibility. As Allah says in Surah al-Ahzab verse
