out. Because the two have merged, such as deliberation,
both customs and religion support each other.
From the explanation above, we can draw an understanding
that Minang customs are very accepting of the presence of Islam,
because of the similarity of basic concepts, so that customs can
accept ideas that come from Islam. So the essence of Minang
customs is Islamic teachings.
The unification of customs and religion forms the
distinctive features, attitudes and behavior of the Minang people in
religion. This attitude arises, because the Minang traditional
teachings are sourced from natural philosophy which contains the
law of causality (cause and effect), then these teachings focus on
rational educational values, so that Minang people in their religious
attitude tend to be more rational than mystical; myths and cults.
Meanwhile, belief in Allah, angels and the unseen last days is still
accepted by their minds because of the clear affirmation of the
Shari'ah, because the main sources of religious thought for Minang
people are the Qur'nul Karim, sunnah and ijtihad.
The similarity of the doctrine of the two elements of adat
and Islam, where adat originates from the real world, namely the
takambang realm as a teacher, requires Minang people to study and
