Unit 7
Summarize the contents of the joint
venture
Yoon: Thanks to your report, I think I now understand the general background. Now, how would
you like to proceed?
Smith: I have the written proposal here. It contains all the details. I did my best to keep things
simple and concise, but you may still find some parts difficult to understand. Please don’t hesi-
tate to ask me if there are some things which you find vague or confusing.
Yoon: That’s OK. I will do my best to understand your report. It looks interesting and easy to
understand, anyway. You shouldn’t worry, Mr. Smith. I really appreciate your effort for doing
this.
Smith: Thanks, Mr. Yoon. I will proceed now. Let me summarize the contents as follows. Gener-
ally speaking, the first part contains the basic points for establishing the joint venture. It covers
the main objectives, the ratios of capital and investment, the composition of the staff, and the
jurisdictional role of the company.
Yoon: Oh, this seems quite technical and complicated. I think I’ll listen to you and simply refer to
the report. I hope that’s okay.

ground of your company?
Sample answer:
We invite them to a meeting, which may be formal or informal. We provide a brief presentation
about the company’s background using a video, some pamphlets, or a presentation. We also
provide formal reports on this depending on the desire of the client.
2. What are the details that you usually include in a proposal summary?
Sample answer:
We provide a brief background or history of our company and the project that we are starting.
We also include some technical reports, which are of course, made simple. We have feasibility
