Unit11
Is there any exception to the rule?
Teacher: Okay class, I think you would have to excuse me and one of your classmates for a
while. That would be you, Ms.Cyrus.
Babes: But, Ma’am, may I ask why?
Teacher: It’s simply because you are eating in the classroom while I’m discussing.
Babes: I’m so sorry Ma’am; it’s just that I’m so hungry.
Teacher: You know that it’s prohibited to eat in the classroom especially during my class.
Babes: Yes, I know that Ma’am, but I’m really starving and I can’t help it.
Teacher: I completely understand, but we should follow the rules that we set here in the class-
room.
BABES: Is there any exception to the rule?
Teacher: We should implement the rules that we created and set examples to other students.
Babes: I would not argue with that Ma’am but my stomach is really grumbling.
Teacher: Isn’t it your responsibility to eat before you attend my class?
Babes: Yes, Ma’am but your class is just right after our Homeroom.
Teacher: Didn’t I agree with your class that you’ll have a 30 minute-break for lunch before I
appear on class?
Babes: You’re right Ma’am, but I had to attend a Student Council meeting a while ago.
Teacher: Are you saying that I should have you exempted as President?
Babes: No, Ma’am that is not what I mean.
Teacher: And what do you exactly mean then, Miss Cyrus?
Babes: Nothing Ma’am, I just thought that you would excuse me since you have called for an
emergency Student Council meeting and you have asked me to buy the faculty’s lunch right
after our meeting.
Teacher: Are you saying that it’s my entire fault then?
Babes: No Ma’am, I never said that. Okay Ma’am, I’m so sorry and I promise never to do that
again.
