Borobudur Temple Restoration Process
The Borobudur temple conservation project is
recorded as one of the largest conservation efforts in
the world, costing more than US$20 million with
support of more than US$13 million from the
Indonesian government and around US$7.75 million
from international contributions, involving more than
600 local workers. All this hard work is documented in
an exceptionally comprehensive archive, consisting of
tens of thousands of photographs, technical drawings,
slides, films, and official documents. The conservation
archives of Borobudur Temple are among the most
comprehensive conservation archives in the world.
