6.7 Cardiac bed
Purpose
A cardiac bed is prepared for a patient with heart disease to ease the difficulty in
breathing.
Equipment
o The same as a closed bed but add extra pillows. Oxygen should be ready for use.

Procedure
o Make the bed the same as a closed bed.
o Put the bed in semi fowlers' position.
o Put footrest to prevent the patient from slipping dawn.

6.8 Baby crib
Procedure
1. Place the baby at the foot of the bed.
2. Loosen the bottom sheet at the head of the bed and fold towards the foot of the bed.
3. Place a clean bottom sheet and tuck in.
4. Place a small rubber sheet or waterproof pad on top
5. Place the baby at the head of the bed.
6. Remove soiled linen and tuck clean bottom sheet mitering corners
7. Place a clean top sheet and tuck at the bottom.
8. Place blanket and tuck.
9. Place baby bedspread.
10. Complete making bed on both sides.
11. Raise side rails of the bed and leave the baby comfortable in bed.
