15. Put pillowcases on pillows and place on the bed
                   16. Place bedspread with the right side up. Tuck at the foot mitering corners and cover top
                       bedding
                   17. Go to another side of the bed and tuck in the bottom sheet and draw sheet mitering
                       corner, smoothing out all wrinkles
                   18. See that bed is neat and smooth
                   19. Leave bed in place and furniture in order


                       6.2 Open bed
                       An open bed is one which is used by an ambulatory patient
                       Procedure
                       1/ Make the bed the same way as a closed bed
                       2/ Fanfold top covers to the center of the bed (top sheet, blankets, and spreadsheet)


                        6.3 Occupied bed
                       Purpose
                       To provide comfort and to facilitate the movement of the patient
                       Equipment
                   1.  Large sheets
                   2.  Pajama or gown if needed
                   3.  Draw sheet
                   4.  Face towel
                   5.  Pillowcases

                       Procedure
                   1.  If a bath is not given this time, the back of the helpless patient should be washed and
                       back care should be given.
                   2.  Carry all Equipment to the bedside at one time and arrange it in order of its use.
                   3.  Make sure the windows and doors are closed
                   4.  Remove all pillows but one under the patient's head, bed should be flat if possible
                   5.  Loosen all beddings, beginning at the head of the bed.
                   6.  Place the dirty pillowcase on the chair to receive dirty linen
                   7.  Have the patient flex-knees, or assists the patient to do so. With one hand over the
                       patient's shoulder and the other over the patient's knees, turn the patient towards you
                   8.  Never turn a helpless patient away from you as this may cause him to fall out of bed).
                       Place pillow in front for support as needed
                   9.  When you have made the patient comfortable and secured as near the edge of the bed as
                       possible, go to another side, carrying your Equipment with you
                   10. Loosen beddings on that side
