This is a semi-prone position. The patient lies on the side (usually) with the top knee on thigh
drawn up high above the lower one. The lower arm lies to the back and the patient is leaning
fore ward so that he is almost lying on his chest
Uses: For examination and operations on the genital area
Trendelenburg position
The bed or table is raised at the foot so that the head is low on the operation table, the table is
broken at the knees also that the legs are low to keep the patient form lapping. Shoulder braces
are also applied to serve the same purpose as above
Uses: For shock, pelvic surgery, gallbladder surgery, and also for uterine hemorrhage
Prone position
The patient lies horizontally with face downward
Semi-prone position
Same as Sim's position
