Rear axle- Differential assembly
12. Install the differential assembly
(a). Lift the differential assembly with a copper bar
and a hoister and put it into the housing of main
reducing gear.
13. Install the bearing cover
(a). Fill rear-axle gear oil between the inner ring and the outer ringer of the differential bearing.
Gear oil: hypoid gear oil GL-5 85W/90
(b). Close the bearing cover and the differential housing freely and screw the adjusting nut into
the mounting hole by hand.
• Install the outer ring of the differential bearing at the same time.
Notice:
Make sure that the installation is carried out in accordance with the matchmarks.
Hint:
The adjusting nut is only needed to be screwed to rotate freely at this step.
(c). Screw down 2 bolts of bearing cover and fasten
the bearing cover.
Torque:

1051 series 134 ~ 174 N•m
1061 series 186 ~ 242 N•m 25
1089 series 380 ~ 467 N•m
(d). Screw down the adjusting nut with a
differential wrench.
14. Adjust the pre-stressing force of differential bearing. (refer to “chapter 25 rear
axle-differential assembly, inspection”)
15. Inspect the driven gear defecttion. (refer to “chapter 25 rear axle- main reducing gear
assembly, inspection”)
16. Inspect the meshing marks of driving gear and driven gear. (refer to “chapter 25 rear
axle- main reducing gear assembly, inspection”)
17. Inspect the tooth surface clearance of driving gear and driven gear. (refer to “chapter
25 rear axle- main reducing gear assembly, inspection”)
18. Install the main reducing gear assembly. (refer to “chapter 25 rear axle- main
reducing gear assembly, replacement”)
