]8[ Even a mourner in the middle of shiva can immerse on erev Yom Kippur an

hour before the night. Even though the custom is to forbid [a mourner] from
bathing for a full thirty days, a mitzva of immersing is different. The other laws of
mourning such as sitting on the ground and not wearing shoes apply until the
night, as there is nothing greater about erev Yom Kippur than any other erev yom
tov except that it is a mitzva to eat. 45
