of the situation depicted in the case. In order to achieve this
understanding a means to identify these needs and

important aspects may be achieved through following
               process.
There are a number of stages in preparing a case analysis.

               These are:
                       • understanding the case

                       • identifying the core problem in the case
                       • Identify the Cause of the Problem
                       • analysing the issues in terms of the relevant theory

                       • exploring alternative solutions with in terms of
               appropriate theory

                       • choosing the best solution
                       • Develop an implementation plan
                       • making recommendations for action.

Read the case again more slowly in a careful, detailed and
thorough manner making notes as you go. This second and

subsequent readings should aim to identify the places,
persons, activities, and contexts of the situation in addition

to what tools of analysis might be brought to bear when

               building the analysis.

               Analysing the Case
The primary problem that confronts everyone who reads a
case is that they don't know what to look for in a case.

Overcoming this dilemma can be achieved by a adopting a
step by step process. The following questions can help in
doing this but they are not all appropriate to every case

               situation:
This process of case analysis begins by understanding the
