The City of Rockford Police Department was decentralizing police services as part of a
geographic policing initiative to better serve the City. Previously, the Rockford Police
Department operated out of a central police station. With the geographic policing initiative,
the police force moved their base of operations into neighborhoods, or districts, within the
city. The Department hopes that by dividing operations into several districts, response times to
crimes will shorten and opportunities are created to strengthen relationships between citizens
and police. FGM was Design Architect for the District 2 and 3 Stations working with local
architect Hagney and Associates, and was the Architect of Record for the District 1 Station.

District No 1 Station

District No 1 Station is a brand-new facility, housing police functions for this area of Rockford. The
location was selected to provide improved response times to a geographic high crime center
point within the community.
