                                       GOING WHERE THE JOBS ARE

Jobs have locations. They have physical addresses or virtual addresses (websites) where

you can find them. There are jobs in the companies, industries, government offices,

NGOs, with the entrepreneurs along your streets, in the cities, in the rural areas, on the
websites, everywhere! Do not sit at home (except you want to work from home), go to

where the jobs are. That is where you can find one!

If a job fair is happening around you, go there! It is a place to find jobs. Although such

physical gatherings are uncommon nowadays, but better and modern versions exist on
the Internet. There are online job vendors websites, career websites and Human

resources or recruitment websites you can visit to find out about openings. Examples
include: Jobberman, Glassdoor, Myjobmag, Careerslip, Jobzilla, Nairaland, Indeed jobs,

Jobgurus, LinkedIn etc. Companies and Organizations with openings send information
about their job vacancies to these third-party agents for rebroadcasting and public

awareness. When you visit these sites, do not just search for current vacancies, enroll in
their database as a jobseeker and subscribe to their job alerts. That way, they can send

you job notifications based on your pre-selected criteria, qualifications, or location. As

soon as there is an opening that matches your skills and certifications, you get an email
or SMS alert based on your choice of contact. However, in most cases, an SMS may be at

a cost depending on your network service provider. The expectation is that the 21st
century job seeker should be technology compliant. You are expected to have basic

computer literacy and be able to surf the Internet. Information is power, and a bulk of
what you need is there on the Internet. You should be able to source and extract relevant

               information for your use.

Without registering on job websites, an arbitrary search for job name, location, company

may get you enough to chew. Get familiar with the search engines: Google, MSN, Yahoo,
Bing et cetera, and use them. You do not need to have a bulky computer at home, a

simple android phone will do the magic. Check the Internet daily to look for job
               openings.
