along with you the photocopies of your testimonials and certificates too, who knows,
someone may want to sight them. Prepare your answers ahead of interview questions
and read your responses repeatedly, aloud.
The way you enter the interview room is important. Remember, first impression is very
important. The interviewer is observing your gait, confidence, and manners as you enter
the room. Knock and wait for a response before you open the door, greet, and close the
door as gently as possible. Walk in confidently, but do not sit until you are told to do so.
Should the interviewer give you a hand, do not hesitate to return the handshake warmly
and firmly. But do not be the first to request for a handshake.
Next of interest to the interviewer is your body language. Do not fiddle with any objects:
your spectacles, paper, pen, phone etc. Do no fidget, twitch, or scratch your body. It
shows lack of confidence and focus. Sit properly and bend forward slightly. This shows
an attitude of interest and attention.
Before you answer any question, listen, think, and then talk. Do not be in a hurry to
answer. If you do not hear the question very well or have not understood it, politely ask
for a repeat. It is costly to assume and give the wrong answer. Be honest in your replies,
do not tell lies. If you do not know the answer to a question, be sincere, tell them you do
not know. If you make a mistake, admit it frankly and humbly. Do not beat around the
bush, be brief and clear in your reply. They may intentionally ask you stupid, insulting or
an irrelevant question, do not get angry and lose your temper. Some interviewers use the
trick to check your temperament or tolerance. Do not interrupt anyone while they speak,
but maintain eye contact, show interest in whatever they say, be enthusiastic, show
courage and energy while answering the questions. This shows that you are genuinely
interested in the job.
The Panel will ask you questions like:
a. Tell us about yourself.
b. Why do you want this job?
c. What do you think this position involves?
d. What do you think you would find most challenging in the role?
