Ball and socket joint: Take half a rubber ball and make a ball of plasticene to fit into it. Push a
pencil into the plasticene. Spread washing-up liquid between the plasticene and the ball. The
pencil swings in all directions as a shoulder and hip joint would work.

            6. Let the children find out all they can about muscles from books, on the Internet, etc.

            7. The children could try to list all the different ways in which animals move, eg fly, swim, hop,
               run, crawl

            8. End the lesson by reviewing the main teaching points and by thanking God for
our healthy bodies and/or praying for those who are not so free to move about.

        Learning for Life (Fulfilment)

The children should have learnt the different ways in which animals move and how God has designed
our bodies to facilitate movement. They will hopefully have made to consider with greater

compassion those who are physically disabled.
