18 Resignation
It is expected that any staff member wishing to resign will take the appropriate steps to 34minimize34
the impact on GNOC.
Employees intending to resign should do so in writing giving the required notice of the date of
resignation as set out in the Letter of Appointment.
GNOC will try to accommodate your requirements with regard to resignation and where possible will
accommodate any request for early departure.
Staff members must return any GNOC equipment in their possession prior to leaving.
Employee will be asked to attend an exit interview where you will be given an opportunity to discuss
any suggestions you may have to improve the working conditions within GNOC.
GNOC will not issue references to staff on separation. However, a certificate of employment
specifying period of employment and positions held.
19 Dispute Procedures
The aim of the dispute procedures is to maintain co-operation, trust and the smooth operation of
GNOC, by 34minimizing343434 the internal settlement of disputes through consultation and
negotiations that are based on the facts of the matter.
A dispute, difficulty or question should, where possible, be dealt with initially at work and raised with
the person who has caused the grievance.
19.1.1 Individual Employee Grievance
You should notify the Executive Director of substance of the grievance and request a meeting. The
notification should be in writing and include expected solutions.
The meeting will take place at the earliest convenient time. Reasonable time must be allowed for
arranging meetings at each level.
You may ask for another employee or representative to be present, but this must be stated in your
request for a meeting.
GNOC will provide a response on your grievance after the conclusion of the meeting. If the dispute
has not been resolved, then the response will include reasons why the expected solution has not been
agreed to.
The response will advise or inform the employee on the next steps that can be taken.
If you are not satisfied with the outcome you may request a meeting with the Secretary General.
If a resolution cannot be reached internally the parties shall resort to other legitimate forums for
settlement of disputes. While this procedure is being followed normal work must continue.
