Carrie Stokes
Carrie truly personifes the words in the Girl Scout Promise and
Law. She lives “to help others” and always treats people with the
utmost respect. Carrie is “honest and fair, friendly and helpful,
considerate and caring, courageous and strong…” in ways too
numerous to mention. Mom, you are our heroine. You never gave
up when times got hard. Although we did not fully understand you
opening our home to those in need out of your generosity, you
consistently modeled the Girl Scout Promise, Mission and Law
for us. Even as adults, we call you for advice because we know
you will offer sound advice. What a magnifcent role model, friend
and infuential leader you are to all people who cross your path!
Congratulations!

Vivien Swaddling
This tribute honors Vivien Swaddling who served as Berea’s
Service Unit Director (SUD), troop leader at all levels, and in other
volunteer roles. Vivien is enthusiastic, thorough, organized,
perceptive, and understanding. She is an excellent problem solver
and mentored leaders for troop and Service Unit leadership.
After retirement and continuing today, Vivien became responsible
for youth activities at the Berea United Methodist Church and
continued support for GS activities by offering church meeting
places for troops, Service Unit, World Friendship, and the Senior
International Travel Group’s Spaghetti Dinners. I admire her long
term commitment to girls and adults.
