           “B" GRADE - -
This year Wynnum again fielded a “B” grade team in the Q.S.S.S.S.A.
competition. As a result of excellent coaching by Mr. Weise we were able
to go through the season undefeated. However, the credit must be shared
by the team members who performed so admirably against some very tough
opposition. Grahame Pearson, Trevor Niebling, John Henderson, Ian
Hastings, Ian Down and Robert Martin, who played so well in both defence
and attack were ably supported by such players as David Monks, Harry
Percival, Len Starika. John Sands. Brian Boran. Bruce Fleming, Les Haylock
and Stuart Robinson. During the season this team struck up one of the
best combinations in the competition and behaved like true sportsmen when
ever they played. The captain of the team. Robert Martin, was selected
to play in the Combined Brisbane State Secondary Schools XIII against
Rockhampton at Rockhampton and Darling Downs in Brisbane. Principal
scorers for the season were Robert Martin, 36 points (12 tries) and Trevor
Niebling also with 36 points (10 tries. 3 goals). Ian Hastings kicked 16
           goals for the season.
                 Team Record—Won 8, lost 0, drew 0. Points: For 139, against 27.
           9 STONE - -
The 9 stone football team had a mixture of victories and defeats
in what is recognized as the toughest of all divisions. Best players were
Brian Austin, John Flaherty and Frank Whatley.
           “C” GRADE - -
This team had a rather chequered career. We started the season rather
shakily, registering an odd win here and there, but nevertheless making our
presence felt in “C” grade circles. During this time we lost the services of
our coach (first of three), Mr. McCarthy. We owe him our thanks. His
place was ably taken by Mr. Weise, a new-comer to Wynnum High, but a
thoroughly experienced and most enthusiastic footballer. Our third coach
