the "A” team of the Q.S.S.S.S.A. competition played as the “B” team,
when we played social matches against St. Peter’s, Clayfield College,
and Moreton Bay on Saturday mornings. These four Intermediate girls
played very good tennis, and make the tennis future of Wynnum High
look promising.
There was no Inter-House competition in tennis this year.
We would like to congratulate the boys “B” team which was only
narrowly defeated in the final of the Q.S.S.S.S.A. competition, and our
many thanks go to Mr. Law, who greatly encouraged and supported us
throughout the fixtures.
INTERMEDIATE TENNIS.
The Intermediate tennis teams have had a successful year. The
boys’ team defeated other local schools, and went on to represent the
district in the Metropolitan premiership competition. After a convincing
win over Moroooka, they finally went under to Camp Hill, to be runners-
up in the south side zone final.
The girls, too, won their district competition, but were unfortunately
defeated in their city debut. Players who have represented Wynnum
Intermediate this season include :
Girls : Dianne Hargreaves, Marlene Hargreaves, Lynette Tovey,
Aileen Barr, Judith Pleace, Vanessa Robb, and Sandra Badrick.
Boys : Peter Stephn, Fay Fletcher, Ray Hallman, Wayne Perry,
Robert Bolitho, Neville Kohler, Warren Schweitzer, Bruce Johnson and
Gregory Hatch.
