                          INTERMEDIATE RUGBY LEAGUE.
This year Wynnum fielded five teams in the Queensland State
Schools' Rugby Football League fixtures, which commenced on April
        25, 1958. OPEN TEAM.
The open team, led by Brian Scott, had a most successful season
and won the Metropolitan Premiership. This is the first time that the
school has won this particular premiership, and by winning it this year
the school has now won all possible premierships from the 5st. 71b. up
to the Open since our entry into these fixtures. Brian Scott was the
principal points-scorer with 96 points (24 tries, 12 goals), followed by
        B. Fleming 42, G. McLennan 30, and M. Bashford 15.
          Team record : Played 14, won 12, lost 2. Points: For 199, against 35.
           Coach , Mr. J. W. Johnson.
                                 7st. 71b. TEAM.
This team, led by N. McWaters, was affected by our decreased
numbers and at times found itself short of players. Although faced
with many difficulties during the season they still managed to reach
the semi-finals of the Metropolitan Premiership, only to be defeated
        in the first semi-final.
Barry Rowlingson, from this team, represented Queensland against
        New South Wales in Sydney.
           C. Chuikoff was the principal points-scorer with 27 points, followed
        by J. Berkery 9, F. Whatley, B. Rowlingson, N. McWaters and A. Zohn
        with 6 points each.
Team record: Played 12, won 3, lost 9. Points: For 63, against 111.
           Coach : Mr. M. McGovern. 6st. 101b. TEAM.
The 6st. 101b. team, led by R. Ricketts, had a very successful season
and was unbeaten. It won both the East Zone Premiership and the
Metropolitan Premiership. R. Ricketts was the principal points-scorer
        with 113 points (25 tries, 19 goals), followed by N. Gallagher 36, W.
Blaik 18 and K. Day and R. Orr 9 each.
Team record: Played 13, won 12, drew 1. Points: For 203, against 11.
           Coach : Mr. R. T. Phillips 6st. TEAM.
This team, led by J. Anderson, had a successful but unlucky season.
Again the shortage of numbers make the season a difficult one, but
the 6st. team was the team that showed the greatest improvement as
the season progressed. They finished second in the Zone Premiership
only one point behind the leaders, Morningside, by whom they were
defeated 6-5. Morningside then went on to win the Metropolitan
Premiership. G. Cathcart was the principal points scorer with 30
points, followed by B. Martin 15 and J. Anderson and W. Virgen with
        9 each.
Team record: Played 9, won 7, lost 2. Points: For 110, against 14.
           Coach : Mr. R. Mahoney. 5st. 71b. TEAM.
The 5st. 71b. team also found itself short of players and although
the few were keen they found the season very difficult. Peter Parker,
from this team, represented Brisbane against Ipswich, Toowoomba and
        New South Wales 6st. teams.
           P. Parker was the principal points scorer with 33 points, followed
by I. Cushway with 21 points and R. McMahon with 11.
Team record: Played 9, won 5, lost 3, drew 1. Points: For 80,
        against 28.
Coaches : Mr. C. Peacock and Mr. B. A Lee.
                           REPRESENTATIVE PLAYERS.
           Queensland : B. Rowlingson.
           Brisbane : P. Parker.
