I   somet imes    worr y   about   ho w   ha rd   he   pushes    hi msel f   with   work,

                but  I  don’t  say  any thi ng .  I’ve  been  sitting   in  my  offic e  going   on  twel ve
                ho urs  now,  so  I  don’t  ha ve  much  room  to  talk  when  it  comes   to  bei ng
                too ambitious.
                    I  spend   the  ne xt  fif teen  or  so  minu tes   fina lizing   orders .  When     I’m
                fini shed , I close  my laptop and  look over  at R yle.
                    I  tho ught   he’d   be  asleep ,  but  ins tea d  he’s  on  hi s  side  with  hi s  hea d

                propped  up on  hi s ha nd . He’s been  watchi ng  me  thi s who le  time,  and
                seei ng   the   smile   on   hi s  face   makes   me   blush.   I  push   my  cha ir   back
                and  stand  up.
                    “Lily, I thi nk  I like  you too much, ”  he  says as I make  my way over  to
                hi m.
                    I  scrunc h  up  my  no se  as  he  sits  up  on  the  couch  and   pulls  me  ont o
                hi s lap. “Too much?  Tha t does n’t sound  like  a compliment .”

                    “Tha t’s  bec ause  I  don’t  kno w  if  it  is,”  he  says.  He  adjusts  my  leg s  on
                ei ther   side  of  him  and   then   wraps  hi s  arms  around   my  waist.  “Thi s  is
                my firs t rea l rel ations hi p. I don’t kno w if I’m supposed  to like  you thi s
                much  yet . I don’t want  to scare  you away.”
                    I  laugh.   “Like  tha t  could  ev er   ha ppen.   You  work  way  too  much  to
                smother  me. ”

                    He  rubs  hi s  ha nd s  up  my  back.  “Does   it  bother  you  tha t  I  work  too
                much?”
                    I sha ke  my head . “No. I worr y about you somet imes  bec ause  I don’t
                want   you  to  burn  yoursel f  out.  But  I  don’t  mind   tha t  I  ha ve  to  sha re
                you  with  your  passion.   I  actually  rea lly  like  ho w  ambitious  you  are.   It’s
                kind  of sex y. It might  ev en  be  my favorite  thi ng  about you.”
                    “You kno w wha t I like  the  most about you?”

                    “I alrea dy kno w thi s ans wer,” I say, smiling . “My mouth. ”
                    He   lea ns    hi s   hea d   back   agains t   the   couch.    “Oh   yea h.    Tha t   does
                come  firs t.  But  do  you  kno w  wha t  my  sec ond   favorite  thi ng   about  you
                is?”
                    I sha ke  my hea d.
                    “You  don’t  put  pres sure      on   me   to  be   somet hi ng   I’m  inc apable    of

                bei ng . You accep t me  ex actly ho w I am.”
                    I  smile.   “Wel l,  in   all  fairnes s,  you’re   a  little  different   from  when   I
                firs t met  you. You aren’ t so ant i-girlfriend  any more. ”
