of fire as there would not be anyone around to notice
the fire.
Q9. Write short notes on hazards arising from
goods.
Ans. The Tariff classifies hazardous goods as follows :
(i) Ease of Ignition - Flash point is a suitable measure
of the ease of ignition. Goods with flash point of
less than 90o F or 32o C are extra hazardous
whereas those above 90o F are termed hazardous.
Solids like vegetable fibres and yarns are highly
hazardous and other materials when damp or
contaminated with fats and oils too are hazardous.
(ii) Speed and Intensity of burning - The speed and
intensity of burning is often dependent on the
manner in which materials are stored. E.g, lightly
compacted fibres burn more easily than the firmly
compacted ones.
