Deflating the Big Balloon

erome was up next. Jerome’s deposition was the one with which I
received the most satisfaction. It was the first time I was able to see
him sweat for a change.

Jerome entered Kenneth’s office for the deposition without his
attorney. Kenneth had contacted his attorney the day before, and

Jerome’s attorney had told him Jerome did not want to pay him to
come. Of course, Jerome explained to us that he gave his attorney the

day off; always perpetrating. This was the first time I had seen Jerome
since the last deposition, and he had gained a little weight. He came in

dressed in a pink linen shirt and black linen pants with both ears

pierced now, he had a diamond stud in one ear and a hoop earring in
the other with nails, as always, perfectly manicured.

He was sworn in and Kenneth checked to see if the transcriber
was ready to begin. Kenneth started by asking him some basic

questions, such as the current address and phone number. He wanted
to know if he had a degree. He said yes, he had a Bachelor of Science
