The first time I met Tyrone was when he came to my office and
asked if I could assist him with developing marketing materials. Sara
had failed to inform him they did not have any marketing materials.
By this time, my team and I had developed our marketing materials
for CGS. So, I brought out CGS marketing materials and asked
Tyrone if it was something he was looking for. Tyrone was sold on
CGS. I introduced Jerome to Tyrone and they quickly became friends.
Tyrone was under pressure. He had just had two babies and his wife
did not work. Tyrone was the missing piece of the team, he had true
sales skills, and he was probably one of the best I had ever met. I had
to train him on how this side of the world worked and it was all he
needed. Sara did not have an office for Tyrone and had placed him in
the conference room to make his sales calls. I saw another
opportunity. I went to Sara and told Sara I thought Tyrone might work
better if he had an office. I offered to share my office with him. She
agreed. It was all I needed. Tyrone began to work for CGS during his
lunch hours and after work. We were going on at least 3 presentations
per week. Jerome would meet us at the coffee shop across the street
and Tyrone and I would meet him to do the presentations during
lunchtime.
At the same time, my contract was in its last year and there was a
lot of money that had to be spent before the contract ended. I had to
staff up quickly with temporary staffing. I staffed up with 10
temporary staff and because I had to hire so many people, Sara
decided to give our team a separate office. The office was complete
