them with her cronies, white upper-middle-class women. Again, an
example of FTFWW, she hired Sara, her best friend, as her Deputy
and six months later and for some reason unbeknownst to us, the
owner fired Susan.
Sara was about the same age as Susan, blonde, and about 5ft 9
inches. They were both cuts from the same cloth. Sara became my
new supervisor, and she and I did not click at all. Sara was kind of an
airhead, and after Susan was fired, Sara was promoted to head up our
division. White folks get fired differently than black folks after Susan
was fired, Sara rehired her as a consultant making $100 per hour.
Sara became my new nightmare. Sara was also strung out on
pain medication. She would tell me she had to take at least 10
Percocet’s a day for her pain. I also knew Sara did not have a clue as
to what she was doing, which was to my advantage. She was just
straight-up with her racism, no mistake where she was coming from.
When I started on my contract, I had to staff up again since I had
sent Jerome to IT Solutions. I hired another conference coordinator
and an administrative assistant. There was also a writer position,
which was filled by an in-house writer named Steve. Steve was a
young white man who had just graduated from college. I had no
problems with Steve until Sara decided to give him a $10,000 salary
increase which would come out of my contract. The problem was
that Sara did not think to ask for my input regarding his
performance, even though Steve's salary was being billed 100% to
