That’s Crazy
January arrived and Daddy got sick. I had to go home. When I
arrived Daddy was delirious, he did not even recognize me. An
infection had taken over his body and the doctors at the hospital could
not determine what type of infection he had.
I must testify at this point because what happened next was not
the only miracle but demonstrates the power of God and prayer.
Throughout the day, Daddy was just completely out of it. I kept trying
to get him to see me and show him my engagement ring and kept
telling him he had a wedding to plan. By evening, around 10:30 pm, I
had just settled him down and was preparing to stay the night, the
nurses' station came into the room and said about 10 people were
waiting to see Daddy. As they started coming through the door, I got
up to prevent their entrance because I did not want anyone to see him
in that condition.
As I began to tell them that Daddy had experienced a hard day
and was not up to seeing anyone, I suddenly recognized Reverend
Smith. He asked if I knew who they were and told me that the rest of
the crew were ministers and they had come to pray for Daddy. I
thought, who am I to stop the God Squad. They stood around his bed and
began praying. The next day, the doctors were able to identify the
infection and immediately began treating him with antibiotics. He
became cognizant and recognized me – another of God’s miracles. My
strong daddy, he had been operated on and cut up so much, close to
death, but he still returned because he knew how much I still depended
on him. I know I could not have handled him leaving me.
