Ocean Pollution
On 8 May 2019 GIHS celebrated the Drop Down Day event. The
th
topic was on oceans, their biodiversity, biotechnological and energetic
potential as well as the marine soil and subsoil, its pollution and the
need for its conservation. To protect and preserve the marine
environment is not only a goal but a General Obligation under Part
XII of UNCLOS (Art.192).
Presentations were given by students on OCCEAN
CONSERVATION which then led to a discussion on the importance
of oceans and the need for conserving them.
One of the student statistically presented details of a study on how
the UAE government is taking initiative to preserve oceans and how
they are protecting the endangered sea animals from extinction.
Students made innovative posters on the theme, ‘Save Oceans, Ban
pollution’.
Students were also involved in a plethora of activities such as
presentations, seminars, quizzes and awareness session on ocean
pollution and how oceans can be conserved without polluting it.
The activities truly helped the children to build self-confidence and to
do innovative things using their creativity.
