PLASTIC POLLUTION

On 8 September 2019, GIHS conducted a Drop-Down Day which
included activities and group work on the concept of plastic

pollution. Through active participation in group discussions and flip
classes, students came to know more about initiatives taken by
UAE government to reduce Plastic Pollution. Students of 9A
prepared posters that reflected the views for eradicating plastic
from day to day life.
The day helped to encourage teamwork and leadership skills. The
activity also helped to enrich our knowledge to stop plastic
pollution. The PowerPoint Presentation shown in the class created
awareness about the innovative measures taken by UAE
government which includes Run for ocean, Planet or plastic, getting
rid of plastic bags and banning straw to stop plastic pollution. By
the end of the day, students were asked to make posters on how
to eliminate plastic in their life.

MAJOR CLASS ACTIVITIES ON THE DAY:

• The students were asked to write a brief note on pollution
and plastic.
• Students expressed their opinions based on the causes and
effects of plastic pollution.
• Students prepared posters on the topic plastic pollution;
they expressed their thoughts to say NO to plastic

• Students highlighted their views on biodegradable plastic
through creativity and imagination.
• All students had a fun time on learning about the topic
plastic pollution through the activities held on the day.
