Troubleshooting
7. Troubleshooting
The GuardII+ does not typically require any special maintenance. If the monitor does not
operate as expected, some basic troubleshooting can be performed before contacting Iris
Power LP Technical Support.
WARNING:
All troubleshooting activities need to be performed by qualified personnel.
NOTE:
While troubleshooting, connections may need to be temporarily changed.
Once troubleshooting is finished, make sure that the original connections
are restored.
The GuardII+ indicators provide some status information. This section describes the use
of the indicators during troubleshooting. For full functional descriptions of all indicators, refer
to Section 8. Additional diagnostic information will be displayed in the IAM software.
The troubleshooting procedures described here are for a check of all monitor functions.
Sometimes it may be obvious that a problem does not exist. For example, if IAM can connect
to the monitor, then the ac power does not have a problem, so checking it will not provide any
useful diagnostic information. In these cases, a complete check may not be necessary; just
go to the relevant section.
Contact information for Iris Power LP Technical Support is listed in Section 7.12. If repairs
are required, Iris Power LP Technical Support will issue a Return Material Authorization (RMA)
with instructions to return the product. If the monitor is out of warranty, a repair evaluation fee
applies. The warranty details are given in the Selling Policy of Iris Power LP.
NOTE:
This manual contains troubleshooting information for the components
common to all GuardII+’s. For details on troubleshooting a specific
monitoring technology, refer to the User Manual for that technology.
7.1. GuardII+ Diagnostics
The GuardII+ provides two levels of diagnostic information for troubleshooting. Note that
a complete analysis of the diagnostic information is best performed by Iris Power LP Technical
Support.
7.1.1. Basic Diagnostics
Basic diagnostics are downloaded from the monitor using IAM’s ‘Get Diagnostics’ function
described in Section 6.6.5. This includes top-level hardware and system information such as
if the hardware has been properly detected or whether the system is configured properly. For
rapid resolution of any Technical Support issue, this should be included with any Technical
Support inquiry.
