Troubleshooting
NOTE:
If the online/offline state of the monitor can be changed using the
pushbutton, this proves that most of the monitor is functioning properly; it
has successfully booted, and the firmware is running and responsive.
7.7. Local USB Communications
There are two parts of the local USB communications that need to be checked; the
GuardII+ itself and the USB drivers on the computer running the IAM software.

7.7.1. USB Drivers
NOTE:
To verify that the USB drivers are properly installed on the controlling
computer, assistance from your IT department may be required.
On the computer, open the Device Manager and expand the Universal Serial Bus
Controllers section. Connect the GuardII+ to the computer through USB, and the Universal
Serial Bus Controllers should update with a “USB Serial Converter” device in the list. Connect
and disconnect the USB cable multiple times; with each connection change, the Device
Manager will update with the latest list of USB devices. The GuardII+ is the “USB Serial
Converter” device that is listed when the USB cable is connected and not listed when the USB
cable is disconnected.
• If the “USB Serial Converter” device entry does not appear in the Device Manager at
all, this may indicate a hardware problem in the GuardII+. Go to Section 7.7.2.
• If the “USB Serial Converter” device entry appears in the Device Manager with a
warning icon, then the drivers are not installed properly. Re-install on the computer
the USB drivers that are included with the IAM software. If you have difficulty locating
or installing the drivers, contact Iris Power LP Technical Support for assistance.
