Troubleshooting
Figure 7-13 Check Synchronization Source Setting
• If the Synchronization Source is not correct, enter the correct value and upload the
changes. Once this is done, check to see if the synchronization problem still exists.
This can be done quickly with the single-shot measurement.
Note that further troubleshooting synchronization problems requires some additional
equipment. Basic troubleshooting requires a voltmeter that can measure frequency as well
as voltage (most digital voltmeters can). More advanced troubleshooting requires an
oscilloscope.
• Go to Section 7.3.2 for sensor-based synchronization.
• Go to Section 7.3.3 for external-based synchronization (connected to the AC
Termination board).
• Go to Section 7.3.4 for low-voltage external-based synchronization (connected to the
Carrier board).
• Go to Section 7.3.5 for ac power-based synchronization.
7.3.2. Sensor-Based Synchronization
Use this procedure if the GuardII+ is using the PD sensor as a synchronization source.
This is the most common configuration for BUS and PDA systems but cannot be used for SSC
sensors.
