1.11. Emergency Load
1.11.1. When no qualified faculty member is available to teach a subject or in cases where a faculty
went on sudden sick/ vacation/ study leave for prolonged duration, additional loads of up to
six (6) units, may be given to faculty members in the interest of the service. This load is
considered an emergency WO.
1.11.2. An emergency WO must be justified by the College Dean in writing and approved by the
Vice President for Academic Affairs.
1.11.3. An emergency load may be paid subject to the availability of funds or else they shall be
converted into COCs and used as CTOs.
1.12. Substitution
1.12.1. Substitution is given only to faculty members who take over for those on short-term leave
(e.g. maternity leave, sick leave, on official business).
1.12.2. It is allowed only if it is arranged and authorized by the Vice President for Academic Affairs
through the College Dean. Internal arrangements involving substitutions are not allowed
among faculty members.
1.12.3. The schedule for a substitution must be possible considering the regular WL of a faculty.
Substitution Loads can be paid subject to availability of funds or else they shall be converted
into COCs.
1.13. Academic Non-Teaching
Academic non-teaching loads refer to work assignments of faculty to non-teaching duties on
full-time or part-time basis such as assigning a faculty member with a rank of Professor to be the
University Registrar/ Director of Admissions and Registrar Services or Director of Finance. They
shall be given WL credits accordingly. This also include assignments in special projects such as
research, extension and production activities. An academic non-teaching load is rendered for eight
(8) hours a week.
1.14. Non-teaching personnel handling teaching duties
Non-teaching personnel with high educational qualifications, special training, skills and
expertise maybe given teaching loads subject to approval of their immediate supervisor. In this
case, they can be compensated through through the provision of honoraria when funds are
available or be given COCs that they can also use as CTOs.
1.15. Guideline for Special Assignment
Services rendered such as proctors and/or checkers of special admissions/examinations may
receive additional pay at a rate as determined by the University prior to the approval of the special
assignment.
