“I’m hoping you’ll spontaneously combust!” I answer keeping my gaze

               upon her.

“Kim that’s literally what I do!” Elaine crosses her arms and looks at me

               with a sly grin.

“I hate you.” I mumble while turning to look at Lucas and crossing my arms

               as well.

“Why? I’m lovely.” Elaine grins also turning to look at Lucas.
I smile at the memory of that conversation being one of the only positives of

               the day.
The dream shifts and we’re crouched behind our makeshift cover waiting for

Lucas to give the command to charge. I’m ready with my hand out to create a

shield to get us through the initial wave of guards. Elaine has her crossbow loaded

and is leaning her back against the concrete structures. Helena, Caspian, Alex and

Liam are also here at the ready. Helena's wings are trying their best to stay out of

sight and Liam is sparking up a storm as he usually does when he's

nervous. Caspian is focused on the doors of the lab and Alex is fiddling with their

gear. Everyone's back together and the nerves are high.
We all were just a ragtag team of freaks with mutant powers who wanted

some revenge against the person who ruined our lives.
My father, the CEO of Syndrome Sciences, Dr. William Taylor, created a

serum that could alter the DNA of a person. It opened another section in our

blueprints that he could manipulate, add to and mutate to create a new type of

person. He then entered a neurological chip into our brains which he could use to
control us if need be. The chip also made sure our powers were always usable and

nothing went wrong. It eliminated the need for routine injections of the serum.
His findings were seen as a miracle of biology but what did he have to do to

get there? Experiment on his daughters, force people into being his lab rats,
