is so simple that a child can measure it. True prophecy
predicts doom for the sinner and deliverance for the
saints. Gloom to the children of this world, glory to the
children of Heaven! So hear then, child of God: When
you hear the warnings of God depicting destruction and
calamity, thank Him that you have been counted wor-
thy to escape, and stand back and see the salvation of
the Lord in the day of wrath.
Though a thousand fall at my side, though ten
thousand are dying around me, the evil will not
touch me. I will see how the wicked are punished
but I will not share it.
(Psalms 91:7,8 LB)
10. The Second Step
The next step in preparing is to straighten out your
priorities. You must determine right now what really
means the most to you and your family. If your auto-
mobiles, your home, your pension, or any other mate-
rial thing is first in your life, no amount of preparation
can preserve it. You keep things in Christ by giving
them up. You win over materialism only when you cut
off its power over you. You cannot fear losing what you
are no longer attached to.
Our fears mirror our loves. The man who loves to eat
often fears the shortage of food. The woman who is
married to her home and furniture fears not being able
to pay the mortgage. The high-living person, attached to
the good life, fears the loss of his job and the where-
withal to keep it all together. "Set your affection on things
above, not on things on the earth" (Colossians 3:2
KJv),
11. Subjugate Your Appetites
You cannot prepare for the coming hardships and
deprivations ahead until you bring under subjection all
