astrologers and mystics in the empire. "Tell me," said
he, "what it means—quickly!"
Suddenly, as they were drinking from these
cups, they saw the fingers of a man's hand writing
on the plaster of the wall opposite the lampstand.
The king himcelf saw the fingers as they wrote. His
face blanched with fear, and such terror grioped
him that his knees knocked together and his legs
gave way beneath him. "Bring the magicians and
astrologers!" he screamed. "Bring the Chaldeans!
Whoever reads that writing on the wall, and tells
me what it means, will be dressed in purple robes
of royal honor with a gold chain around his neck,
and become the third ruler in the kingdom!" But
when they came, none of them could understand
the writing or tell him what it meant.
(Daniel 5:5-8 LB)
6. Jeane Dixon Is Phony
The Edgar Cayces, the Jeane Dixons, the horoscopers,
the stargazers, the palm readers, the fortune-tellers of
those days were all dumbfounded. They could not deci-
pher this prophetic message, because it was the finger of
God. They could not recognize God at work, and in no
way could they speak on God's behalf. See them, like
little lambs, listening to Daniel, the prophet of God, as
he unravels the warning: "Your days are numbered.
You are weighed in the balance and are found wanting.
The kingdom is lost" (Daniel 5:27).
I will put an end to all witchcraft—there will be
no more fortune-tellers to consult. .
(Micah 5:12 LB)
A fool knows all about the future and tells
everyone in detail! But who can really know what
is going to happen?
(Ecclesiastes 10:14 LE)
