FORK STEM BEARINGS Removal/Installation CAUTION Cover rigid fork legs when prying bearing off to protect from nicks and damage. See Figure 2-110. Remove bearing (1) and dust shield (2) from fork stem. NOTE Springer rigid fork stem bracket has notches (3) machined into the pad on the bracket. These notches make it possible to use a pair of pry bars to pry the lower dust shield and bear- Press dust shield (2) and bearing (1) onto fork stem. NOTE See 2.25 STEERING HEAD to replace lower bearing race
