University Health Network (UHN) is committed to the highest standards of conduct in
                   clinical education.

The Department of Spiritual Care is committed to creating an environment that supports
students in their learning process. We are sensitive to and supportive of building an
environment conducive to reflective practice. We recognize that students and residents
may need a process by which they may resolve concerns that may arise with the
Teaching Supervisor, peers, patients and staff.

This policy defines a clear and progressive process for students to obtain assistance
they cannot resolve on their own. This process enables students and residents to raise
issues including those related to the supervisory relationship and expectations of the
                   educational program.

It is our goal to provide students with an enriching learning environment and a positive
model for professional behaviour and professional practice. We are committed to the
following principles that form the foundation of the facilitation process:

 Most disagreements can, and should be, resolved by the student, and the
Teaching Supervisor without the need for intervention by other parties.
 The Department of Spiritual Care will have a documented process to
facilitate students, which is clear, consistent, and accessible.
 The outcome will be communicated to the student/resident and to the
                                 Teaching Supervisor.
