P. 85
He then chose twelve from them, whom he called apostles: Peter, Andrew his
brother, James and John, Philip and Nathaniel, Matthew and Thomas, James the
son of Alpheus, Simon who is called the Zealot, Judas the son of James, and
Judah of Iscariot, who became the traitor.
After these things, Jesus selected from his followers seventy privateers. He then
began to speak to them; the harvest is great and the labors are few. Ask
therefore the owner of the harvest to bring out laborers to harvest.
First of all beware of the teaching of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. Keep
away from pagan practices; above all go to my sheep which are lost. Preach and
say atone and believe for the kingdom of God is near. I say to you twelve that
you are twelve foundations and upon this foundation I will build my Temple; and
the gate of Heaven shall not shut upon it. I give you the keys of the kingdom of
heaven. Whatever you accommodate on earth shall be accommodated in
heaven. Whatever you disoblige on earth shall be disobliged in heaven.
I send you believers among beasts and give you authority, to tread on deceivers
and tricksters and over all the agents of the adversary. Nothing shall compromise

oppresses me oppresses him who sent me.
Heal every kind of disease, sickness, heal the maimed; cleanse the leapers; cast
out the immature; the unreal; the imperfect and unclean men into outer darkness
they shall weep and gnash their teeth. Feely you have received freely give. Take
nothing for your journey except a staff only. No bag; no bread; no purse to
accumulate silver, brass or copper; or two shirts and only one pair of shoes. Do
not salute any man on the road.
Whatever city, town or village you enter asks who is trustworthy in it. If there is
families trustworthy enter their house. Whatever house you enter first say peace
be to this house. If a man of peace is there let your peace rest upon him. If not let
your peace returns to you. Remain in that house eating, drinking of what they
have. Do not keep moving from house to house. A laborer is at least worth of his
food and drink. Into whatever city, town or village you enter and they receive you
say to them atone and believe the gospel the kingdom of God is come near to
you. Whoever will not receive you, nor hear you when you leave that place go out
into the street and say even the sand of this place which cleaves to our feet we
shake it off to you. Know this that the kingdom of God has come near to you as a
testimony to them. Truly I say to you it will be much easier for Sodom and
Gomorrah in the Day of Judgment than for that city.
Therefore, do not be afraid of them. There is nothing covered that will not be
uncovered and hidden that will not be made known. What I till you in the daylight
tell it in the darkness that they may see the light. Do not be afraid of those who
