                    1.6   QUESTION 4 - LEADERSHIP


                    The Statements / Questions
                       a.  Senior management has high expectations for all staff.
                       b.  Senior management makes good decisions overall.
                       c.  Senior managements' actions are consistent with their words.
                       d.  Senior management understands my needs as an employee.
                       e.  My Line Manager has strong management skills.
                       f.   The actions of my Line Manager are consistent with his/her words.
                       g.  I enjoy the professional relationship I have with my Line Manager.
                       h.  I can count on the support of my supervisor when addressing problems or issues.
                       i.   I trust my Line Manager to make good decisions for the organisation.

                    Areas of Strength
                    The mean score response for all statements lay between ‘Agree’ and ‘Strongly Agree’. The company
                    feels they have a strong relationship with their line manager, they make good decisions and are able to
                    count on them for support.
                    Areas of Attention

                    Questions 4b, 4c, 4f were the lowest scoring. These three questions all have commonalities, which are:
                       1.  The management’s ability to make good decisions.
                       2.  Acting on those decisions.


                    Possible Improvements
                    Without further investigation, it is difficult to determine the cause of these slightly lower scores. It should
                    be noted that they still lie above the ‘Agree’ boundary so are by no means negative.

                    It is likely that this is down to a communication issue, and not the quality of decisions being made. Hence,
                    improvements  in  feedback  from  director  meetings  as  to  the  decisions  being  made,  then  discussion
                    groups where employees can challenge these could be implemented.
