General Ledger
The General Ledger is like a checkbook/bank statement where all money received (revenue) and spent
(expenses) is tracked and associated with the agency’s account numbers. ONESolution General Ledger is
the core of the Finance and Human Resources suite. Every subsidiary application can be represented in
detail or in summary in this application. ONESolution General Ledger is used to generate many financial
and management reports and inquiries and is typically the primary area where budgets are created.
Job/Project Accounting Ledger
Projects are like mini or sub general ledgers that contain account numbers for a specific project. A project
could be a structure such as a new building, park or bridge, or an event, for example a parade or music
festival. All the account numbers and dollar amounts related to a project are a subset, or part of the core
general ledger, not a separate ledger.
Budget
Similar to projects, budgets are mini or sub general ledgers that only contain account numbers for a specific
department. Every department in a general government agency has a budget. Finance directors and
department managers work together in developing budgets.
