                                                  Abstract
The purpose of the observation is to investigate on how a lucturer at
Mercubuana university teach students to use cooperative learning
strategy. The observation was conducted only within one session because
it is only to see the implementation of cooperative learning in general
                  instead of thorough investigation.
Based on the observation, the composition of the students when observed
was quite heterogenous, by which the classroom consists of students from
various majors, such as Architecture, Accounting, Management,
Broadcasting, and Computer Information Technology. There are 25
students in total with mixed level of language proficiency, ranging from
elementary to intermediate. However, the elementary and pre-
intermediate level students are quite dominant, but non of them reaches
                  neither upper-intermediate nor advance level.
Seemingly, the condition does not prevent the lecturer from implementing
cooperative learning strategies in classroom activities. The lecturer
encourages students to form a group in such a way that all members
participate and contribute their work. By forming a group, the lecturer
tries to make students participate in various activities without regarding
their different backgrounds or abilities. The group must be active to share
ideas, discuss a problem, and help each other. They are treated equally, no
body is superior, because they should participate together, not to lead
others. On the other hands, nobody is regarded as inferior or weak,
because he or she must be responsible to participate, so even when their
skill is low, their contribution is highly respected. This is because the aim
