to their professionalism, tactfulness, integrity, compassion, conflict resolution, and emotional
maturity. It also focused on the factors that affect the interpersonal relationship of nurses in
the healthcare institutions along personality factor, communication factor, workplace behaviour,
professional factor and emotional factor.
Based on the gathered data, the following are the findings of the study: Majority of
the respondents were female, in the age bracket of 21 – 25 years old, married; Bachelors’
degree holder, with 1 – 3 years in service, employed as staff nurses who attended seminars on
IVT/BLS/ACLS/IPCC. The nurses’ interpersonal relationship is always shown in the workplace
through professionalism, emotional maturity, integrity, and conflict resolution. The interpersonal
relationship of nurses is affected by professional factor, workplace behavior, communication
factor, emotional factor and personality factor.
Based on the findings, the following conclusions were made. Since the healthcare
profession is dominated by females, its therefore noteworthy that majority of the respondents
belong to the most dominated gender, young adults and finished their bachelors’ degree,
employed for 1 – 3 years in the hospital and employed as staff nurses with trainings on BLS/
IVT/ACLS/IPCC. The interpersonal relationship of nurses is always shown in the workplace.
The interpersonal relationship of nurses is affected by personality, communication, professional,
emotional factor and workplace behaviour. The respondents have the perception on the
interpersonal relationship across their profile. Therefore, there is no significant differences on
the interpersonal relationship of the respondents and their profile variables. Hence, the null
hypothesis is accepted. The proposed program to improve the interpersonal relationship of
nurses must be implemented.
The study suggests the following recommendation, the health care institution must
promote a good working relationship and show fairness through merit and reward system.
The healthcare institution must conduct periodic team building activities to build camaraderie
and promote stronger ties among their employees. The healthcare institution must implement
activities that will not only develop the skills and knowledge of employees but will hone the
professional, personal and emotional aspect of all employees. The healthcare institution must
ensure regular conduction employees’ satisfaction survey.
