attainment, monthly family income, occupation, and number of children, the extent of paternal
attitude and knowledge on pregnancy along, pre natal, post natal, and child care, the problems
encountered by respondents during their wife’s pregnancy. The researcher utilized the descriptive
research design and used statistical tools such as weighted mean and percentages in interpreting
the data. The study was conducted in Brgy. Bued, Binalonan, Pangasinan. Purposive sampling
method was utilized in choosing respondents that are limited to those fathers who have at least
one or more children.
Based from the interpretation of data, the following were the findings obtained: Majority
of the respondents are in the age bracket of 31-40 years old, college graduates, with a monthly
family income of 20,000 and above, employed, and had 1-3 children. The respondents were
assessed to have a “positive” attitude and highly knowledgeable during their wife’s pregnancy.
The most encountered problems by the respondents during their wife’s pregnancy is that they
do not have enough time to spend with their wife because of their work and inadequate time for
bonding.
Based on the findings, the following conclusions were drawn: Majority of the
respondents are of middle-age, with just small number of children, were able to finish college,
employed, and belongs to family with high monthly income. The respondents were aware and
highly knowledgeable on matters pertaining to pregnancy and possessed positive attitude during
their wife’s pregnancy. The respondents and their wife don’t have a quality time and bonding
with each other.
Based on the findings and conclusions of the study, the following recommendations are
suggested: The respondents should be more involve during their wife’s pregnancy for better
pregnancy outcomes. Despite being highly knowledgeable on pregnancy, fathers must also
possess highly positive attitude during this important event because fathers’ attitude has a great
impact towards pregnancy, childbirth, as well as child care. The Respondents must continue to
be supportive to their wife especially during pregnancy. They must be involved during discussions
whenever their wife visits for a check up. It is necessary that fathers were involved because they
are the main source of support during this time. This is to ensure the safety of the mother and
the child. Fathers should be taught more on pre natal care since it encompasses the most critical
phase of pregnancy specifically the first trimester. Despite of being highly knowledgeable in
terms of prenatal, there were some items wherein respondents need to enrich their knowledge.
Future studies should be conducted with a wider perspective involving other variables.
