or forty three per cent were female. With respect to their civil status, majority of the respondents
who participated in this study were married with fifty per cent or 49 out of 98 respondents,
34 of them are single with a percentage of thirty five while there were nine of nine per cent
respondents perceived that they were separated and 6 of them or six per cent were widow. In
line with educational attainment, sixty seven or sixty eight per cent were high school graduate,
twelve of them or 12 per cent are elementary graduate, 11 of them were college undergraduate
with a percentage of eleven and few of them were college graduate as evidence of 8 percent.
In terms of the monthly family income variables, a great majority of them or fifty seven per cent
of the respondents earns a monthly family income of Php3,001-6,000; sixteen (16) of them or
sixteen per cent earns a monthly family income of Php6,001-10,000; few earns a monthly family
income of Php below 1,000 (11%), Php10,001-15,000 (4%) and earns a monthly family income
of Php15,001 and above with 3 responses or a percentage of three.
The researcher concludes that lack of knowledge and precautions of the residents in
Barangay Poblacion Oeste, Dagupan City leads to higher incident of rabies in the locality. LGUs
were not highly implementing the anti-rabies campaign set by the DOH and lack of information
educational materials to educate the residents of responsible pet owners. There is no treatment
for rabies once symptoms of the disease have appeared. Prevention and control starts in every
household, but due to lack of initiative of the barangay health units and the LGUs, prevalence of
rabies in Barangay Oblation Oeste, Dagupan City.
The researcher therefore recommends promoting intensified campaign against dog
bites so that there will be an increase in awareness about rabies and a decrease in rabies
cases. Intensified campaign primarily to increase awareness on the part of the people on the
deadly effect of rabies and to possibly eliminate rabies in the region. Training should be done
among health personnel and logistic support should be provided to these centers to ensure
appropriate and standard management of animal bite. Further, the municipal government should
provide technical assistance and information and educational materials for extensive campaign
on responsible dog ownership. Establish and maintain at least one animal bite treatment center
with trained staff on intra-dermal regimen of anti-rabies administration and enforce ordinance on
responsible dog ownership (dog immunization and dog leashing) and dog impounding activities
in 50 percent of LGUs.

This study dealt on the knowledge, attitude and self-care behaviors of the respondents
on tuberculosis. It dealt on the respondent’s profile in terms of their age, sex, civil status,
educational attainment, monthly income, occupation and religion. It also focused on the
knowledge of the respondents along its signs and symptoms, causes, mode of transmission and
