HEALTH CARE REFORM OF THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH:
NURSE ENTREPRENEURSHIP

This study dealt on the level of knowledge and responsiveness and expected barriers
that hinder the implementation of the health care reform of the respondents on the health
care reform of the Department of Health on Nurse Entrepreneurship. It also focused on the
profile of the respondents in terms of their age, sex, civil status, highest educational attainment,
position, area of assignment, years in service, number of trainings and present working status.
It tackled the level of knowledge of the respondents in the health care reforms along nurse
entrepreneurship, its goals, activities, and programs. It also dealt on the level of responsiveness
of the respondents on the health care reform of the DOH along professional qualification and
forms of nurse entrepreneurship. It also tackled about the expected barriers identified by
respondents that hinder the implementation nurse entrepreneur healthcare reform of DOH.
Descriptive research design was used in the study using different statistical tools that includes
frequency and percentage, and weighted mean.
Based on the gathered data, the following findings are hereby drawn. Most of the respondents
are in the age bracket of 26-30 years old, females, single, bachelor’s degree holder, staff nurses,
assigned in the medical/surgical private room, and had been in the service for 5-8 years, with
1-3 relevant trainings and presently working in a private hospital. On the level of knowledge
of the nurses on the health care reform of the DOH, it was found out that the overall result
is moderately knowledgeable along the four areas. On the level of responsiveness of the
respondents on the health care reform along professional qualification it was found out that the
respondents are highly responsive. On the level of responsiveness of the respondents on the
health care reform along forms of nurse entrepreneurship it was found out that the respondents
are highly responsive. On the expected barriers that hinder the implementation of health care
reform on nurse entrepreneurship it was found out that the respondents highly expected those
indicators to be the barriers that hinder the implementation of health care reform on nurse
entrepreneurship.
Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions are drawn. Most of the respondents
are young adults, female dominated, still has no commitment in life, bachelor’s degree holder,
holding the lowest position as a regular nurse in a hospital, having duty in the area for patients
who undergoes medical and surgical interventions, been employed for few years, with minimal
number of relevant trainings and working in a pay hospital. The respondents were not yet totally
aware on the health care reform on nurse entrepreneurship except for its goals. The nurses are
very responsive towards health care reform program of DOH on nurse entrepreneurship. The
nurses strongly expect that there are barriers that hinder the implementation of health care
reform on nurse entrepreneurship. Their area of assignment affects their level of knowledge
of the respondents on nurse entrepreneurship and those assigned in the emergency rooms
have higher level of knowledge than those in the private rooms. The more number of trainings
