General Questions
1. Why are you interested in the DOA opportunity with Vallejo Flood & Wastewater? Why are you
actively or passively looking for a new position?
I have always been interested in public health and public service. Right out of college I worked in
pulbic helath. I am a Bay Area native. I caught the policy bug and began working in a State Senate
officce. I became interested in how things are actually adminstered and implemented. Became
interested in working in local government, particularly in administration. Did work around
performance. I was really interested in working as a Clerk of the Board because I understand how
important the process and administrative side. I was excited to see this position that is looking for
someone that has my particular set of skills. This would be a very exciting opportunity for me to do
this. As to why I'm working, this job in particular speaks to my skillset and what I'm looking for long-
term. When I saw it I was really excited to learn more.
Position Specific Questions
2. Please describe your highest level administrative support role to an Executive, Director, General
Manager and/or Board.
In my current role I work as a management analyst. I'm also a deputy clerk, so I an administer oaths,
during meetings I sit in and help with the minute compilation at the end - that's one level of really
specific direct support. Additionally I have been in a support and confidential assistant type role in the
past working for an elected official. You are always going to have an all hands-on deck approach when
in a small office.
I am currently classified as an analyst. I mostly perform management and project management roles
around policy implementation and analysis. One of my biggest role is compliance. I work with 80
different county boards and commissions to ensure each of those boards is in compliance with county
and state laws. I make sure that people are up to date and produce reports on how people can
function better, and assist in training.
3. Please describe your supervisory experience and the most challenging human resources issue you
have addressed.
Throughout my career I have had different levels of formality and informality. This role is probably my
most formal. I have supervised interns and lower level staff. Trained people, onboarded them. In my
last role. Prior to being a management analyst. We worked directly with a number of different
contractors, including local non-profits, and I oversaw two individual consultant contracts, that
