Chapter 1: Introduction
There is one dry-contact relay featured in the Area Alarm that provides an
output signal. The output can be wired to either the normally-closed or
normally-open contacts. It is located on the Area Alarm Breakout P.C. Board,
and marked MAIN ALARM. For wiring diagrams, refer to the foldouts at the
rear of this manual.
• MAIN ALARM RELAY
• When the Master Alarm is in alarm condition, this relay activates.
• When the Master Alarm is silenced, this relay stays activated.
• When the Master Alarm condition is remedied, this relay deactivates.
When the battery needs changed, Real Time clock battery low displays on the
Area Alarm’s Home page. The buzzer does not sound. This message logs into
the Error Log when the CheckSum Test is run, which is a test that the Area
Alarm runs automatically every 24 hours.
The Silence key silences the audible alarm. You can set the time between the
audible alarms to resound never, every 30 minutes, every 60 minutes, every 90
minutes, or every 120 minutes. The alarm code remains on the display, the red
LED remains steadily lit, and the reading continues to flash indicating that the
alarm condition has not been remedied.
NOTE:
To comply with the requirements of the City of New York Department of
Buildings; Materials and Equipment Acceptance Division (M.E.A.), do not set
the alarm return time to “never.” Set the alarm to return every 30 minutes.
A Test key starts a self-diagnostic routine.
• The seven segment displays light each individual segment.
• The LEDs light.
• The audible alarm sounds.
