These standards were used as my own personal validation before seeking peer and
group validation. I asked my colleagues during our meetings if they understood my
research? (Comprehensibility); did I provide evidence to test the validity of my
claims? (Truthfulness); have I demonstrated a commitment of living as fully as
possible to the values I adhere to the most? (Authenticity); have I shown my
awareness of the normative background of my claim? (Appropriateness).

3.5.2 Ethical Considerations
Research ethics is explicitly interested in the consideration of ethical issues that are
presented when people act as participants in a research study. According to Walton
(2015), there are three main objectives in research ethics. The first objective can be
broadly defined as the protection of the participants from harm. The second is to
ensure that the research best serves the interests of the individuals, groups or society
as a whole. And finally, the third objective examines certain research activities for
their ethical soundness, looking at issues such as the management of risk, protection
of confidentiality and the process of informed consent. To ensure the protection of
all participants in my research, I assessed the context for the research and determined
it did not require any participant to act outside the bounds of their normal school
day. I employed a number of procedures to ensure each participant was fully aware
of what contributing to the research would entail. I ensured the participants that any
information they provided that may be personal or confidential in nature would be
