Michelangelo awards, Cape Town, South Africa

The most beautiful part of competitions is always
the announcement of the winners. In some places,
such as Michelangelo in South Africa or Vinalies in
Paris it is done in a very festive way. The prize for the
winning wine is accepted by a member of the jury -
a representative of the country. So, in Paris I have
received the award for the winner of the category
on behalf of the Horák Winery twice already.

At the last Terravino in Jerusalem, the prize for the
champion was received by Captain Lucie Šimono-
vá. She is a boutique winemaker, who served in the
units of the UN security mission along the Israeli-
-Syrian border..

When I visited the famous Gloria Ferrer sparkling
wine factory, I found the award for the best
sparkling wine from Finger Lakes 2016 displayed
there. This piece of Czech crystal with hand-crafted
engraving was donated by our editorial staff. Two
years later, Bonnie and Iva handed out hand-cut
Crystalex Elements glasses for the best red wine to
Ron Yates at TXIWC.
